Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr has reunited with Rema in the official video for her latest single, ‘Who’s Dat Girl’, released on Tuesday.

The video, directed by Nigerian-British filmmaker Meji Alabi, unfolds like a movie scene, bold, colourful, and visually magnetic.

Within 12 hours of its release, the video surpassed 1.5 million views, trending #14 worldwide, #4 in the UK, and #7 in France.

The single ‘Who’s Dat Girl’ first dropped on October 17 under Mavin Records, marking another top-tier collaboration between two of Nigeria’s biggest young global stars.

Produced by Ragee with additional production from The Elements, the track blends Afropop, dancehall, R&B, and Middle Eastern rhythms.

The visual was shot across Morocco and showcases Ayra Starr performing against stunning Moroccan backdrops.

It opens with masked riders in purple turbans racing through a sunlit desert, setting a cinematic tone.

The focus shifts to Starr, surrounded by dancers in flowing robes, as she delivers her verses with calm confidence and a mix of Naija street flair and Moroccan mystique at a time.

The two singers later reunite for a choreography sequence, moving in sync with effortless chemistry.

The closing shot shows Ayra in a black haute couture dress, kissing a black dog statue before teasing, “Who’s that girl? They really wanna know.”

Blending English, Nigerian Pidgin, and Yoruba, the song carries a global sound with local flavour. Ayra Starr and Rema bounce off each other with effortless chemistry, trading lines about charm and energy.

The chorus, “Who’s that girl, what’s popping?”, ties it all together as a bold celebration of confidence and star power.

Since its release, ‘Who’s Dat Girl’ has earned praise as a “hip-swaggering dancehall,” clinched BBC Radio 1’s Hottest Record of the Week, and topped NME’s Best New Tracks list. The track also reached number one on the Spotify Daily Top Songs Nigeria chart, with over 388,000 streams.

 

The collaboration followed their joint performance at the Global Citizen Festival in New York, where they shared the stage in a surprise act that thrilled fans.

For Ayra Starr, ‘Who’s Dat Girl’ extends an incredible winning streak. Her recent singles ‘Hot Body’ and ‘Gimme Dat’ featuring Wizkid dominated airwaves all summer, with ‘Hot Body’ alone surpassing 35 million global streams.

Her rising global profile also got a major boost this year with a Roc Nation deal, naming her among the most promising African exports. Spotify crowned her the Top Female Afrobeats Artist of 2025, adding to her growing list of achievements.

 

 

In recent weeks, fans have speculated about the nature of Starr and Rema’s relationship after a few viral clips showed them sharing close moments.

Fans fueled conversations after spotting the duo clubbing together shortly before the single’s release.

 

Neither has confirmed the rumours, but their chemistry, both on stage and on screen, remains undeniable.

Since signing with Mavin Records, both Ayra Starr and Rema, still in their 20s, have dominated the Afrobeats scene, earning international recognition and Grammy nominations.

Away from music, Starr will make her Hollywood debut in the film adaptation of Children of Blood and Bone, starring alongside Viola Davis, Idris Elba, and Cynthia Erivo.
