A tragic auto crash claimed the lives of nine commuters in Inisa, along the Ikirun-Offa Expressway in Osun State on Christmas Day.
The accident involved a Mitsubishi truck carrying bags of beans and some passengers coming from Niger State to Edo State.
The driver of the truck was said to have lost control, which led to the vehicle veering into the bush. Nine out of the 12 commuters died on the spot, while the remaining three sustained injuries.
A spokesperson for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in the state, Kehinde Adeleke, confirmed the tragic accident.
Adeleke said the injured passengers had been moved to Orotunde Hospital in Ikirun, while the remains of the deceased were deposited at the hospital’s morgue.
“Bags of beans and the vehicle involved have been evacuated to Inisa Police Divisional Headquarters,” she added.
