The Niger State Police Command has recovered a stolen vehicle along Dikko Road in Suleja.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, the recovery followed a swift response to a report of a stolen black Toyota Corolla with registration number EKY 80 DZ.
The car was said to have been stolen around the Midwifery School in Tunga, Minna, on May 15, 2025, at about 8:15 p.m.
Abiodun said the police immediately circulated an alert to all divisions across the state upon receiving the report.
He explained that at about 10 p.m., a patrol team from the Maje division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, spotted a black Toyota Corolla with a suspicious front number plate (BDG 271 AT) and no rear plate along Kwamba-Maje Road.
He said that when signaled to stop, the vehicle, occupied by two suspects, attempted to evade arrest but collided with a tricycle ahead.
He said the suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene.
The PPRO noted that the patrol team recovered the vehicle along with other exhibits left behind by the suspects, while the rightful owner has since identified the car as the one stolen in Minna.
Abiodun confirmed that investigations were ongoing and that forensic analysis of the recovered exhibits was underway to track down the fleeing suspects.
Commending the swift action of the Maje Divisional team, the Commissioner of Police, CP Adamu Elleman, urged residents to remain vigilant and to provide timely information to the police.
He also emphasised the importance of safeguarding personal property to prevent theft by criminal elements.
